LA Armour Profiles: Wraith

Recorded interview by BBC World News concerning the death of Melissa Duvall by an unknown and reportedly magical assailant, later confirmed to be a Genom Los Angeles 'Wraith' powersuit in the possession of the assassin known as Specter.

Genom Los Angeles Wraith Powersuit
Genom Los Angeles is the only off-shoot of the actual Genom mega-corporation that doesn't make a profit off Boomers. Its CEO, Michael Huxley, decided that the popular image of Genom as an evil producer of mad robots had to go and went into cybernetics and nanotechnology before authorizing the development of a specially designed powersuit for deniable operations, the perfect powersuit for an assassin of any kind.

The Wraith was the brainchild of Genom Los Angeles head of research and development Doctor Gojo Mors, who was perfecting a revolutionary system that would allow a properly shielded human to move through walls and magical barriers like a ghost.

Gojo saw the Wraith project as the means to fully realize his private dream and lent his expertise, creating a suit that connects directly to the user's neural pathways in order to shield them from the most fascinating feature of the Wraith suit, the Ghost System.

Currently there are only five Wraith Suits in existence and three of them are in the possession of the LAPD due to the exorbitant cost of the Wraith. The remaining two are currently in the hands of the female assassins Specter and Shadow.

Armour:
Self-repairing Nano-Gel armor with partial reinforced MDC nano-composite plating over vitals.

Note:Due to the nature of the Ghost System, it is impossible to carry firearms with the system engaged, as ammunition and moving parts would slide out of the weaponry and out of the holsters.

-Full Environment Seal with 500-second internal air supply.
-Nanotech Repair System
-Nanotech Medical System
-Artificial Muscle Package capable of lifting 15 metric tonnes.

The Ghost System:
The Ghost System is the main selling point for potential buyers of the Wraith and the pride and joy of Gojo Mors.

Linked to the user's body by way of neural connection spikes driven into the user's spinal column, the Ghost System allows the user of the Wraith Suit to become partially invisible and then move through physical barriers using a complicated matter-phasing field.

Initial experiments resulted in a need to create a system that would not cause the user to sink into the ground immediately upon activation led to the creation of an AI that would prevent the user from sinking into the earth through pushing the suit's phase field upwards to keep the feet solid enough to remain on the ground.

Another problem was that the phase-matter field affected weapons, causing guns to break to pieces and chemical bonds to vanish, rendering explosives useless carried in a specially designed pack. However, knives and other blades became unbreakable and even a normal kitchen knife could slice through MDC materials like it made of a piece of sponge cake.

Thus, knives were the only weapons that would come with the suit as standard along with a monowire garrote, the material able to maintain its cohesion even under the effects of the field.

Price:
The price for the Wraith Suit is a prohibitive $9,045,000 due to the expensive and dangerous nature of the still-experimental Ghost System. Currently, all Wraith Suits are considered to be part of the ongoing development process and strides are being made to reduce the cost without reducing the effectiveness of the suit.
